For the first time since their last practice two months ago, players and coaches of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel met Wednesday as they repackaged goods for frontliners fighting COVID-19.
“Yes first time namin magkitakita,” said Tenorio, whose team had its last practice middle of March before the PBA Commissioner’s Office ordered the suspension of the 46th Season and training of teams due to the pandemic.
“Nag-pack kami ng mga N95 (facemask) na ido-donate ng SMC sa iba’t ibang hospitals sa Visayas and Mindanao regions,” he said.
Tenorio and other players posted on their respective social media platforms their group photo with coach Tim Cone at the San Miguel Corporation compound showing ‘social distancing’ while wearing facemasks.
According to Tenorio, the idea to have the entire Ginebra basketball team was from SMC boss Ramon S. Ang and sports director Alfrancis Chua, also the governor of the Kings in the PBA board.
SMC, through the instructions of Ang, has been active in donating food packs and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), as well as financial assistance to public and private hospitals.
Tenorio and other players have likewise done their part in donating PPEs and food relief for the poor.
\Last month, Tenorio and other PBA players joined forces in donating alcohol to different hospitals and Local Government Units (LGU), while Japeth Aguilar donated facemasks.
Early this week, Ginebra’s Fil-Am guared Stanley Pringle posted on Instagram @stackpringlez a photo of him delivering plastic bags of relief goods at the PBA Commissioner’s Office.
“Thanks for all the inspirations to keep us motivated to help out. A little something to help somebody somewhere. Hopefully we fill up the next trucks,” said Pringle.
