CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police uprooted some P2.5 million worth of marijuana plants in the mountainous area of Kalinga province amidst the enhance community quarantine.
Police Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, said Kalinga police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents conducted marijuana eradication operations in three sites at Sitio New Balbalan, Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga on May 5.
Pagkalinawan said that at the first plantation site, the operatives uprooted a total of 7,500 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P1.5 million.
At the second and third sites, they destroyed marijuana plants worth P600,000; P400,000, respectively.
All the uprooted marijuana plants were burned on site.
Pagkalinawan said they will file charges against the marijuana cultivator who escaped during the operation. (Zaldy Comanda)
