A 41-year-old woman who was found forcing her children to engage in online sexual exploitation has been arrested during a joint operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and police in Caloocan City.
NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD) Chief Janet Francisco said the woman was arrested last Monday, May 4, at her home in Caloocan City.
Francisco said the operation was conducted jointly by agents of the NBI-AHTRAD and the Philippine National Police-Women and Children Protection Center (PNP-WCPC).
During the operation, Francisco said the woman’s three children were rescued including a 13-year-old boy and two girls ages 14 and 15.
Operatives also seized during the operation a mobile phone, a desktop computer, a webcam and cash with remittance receipts.
Francisco said the operation was conducted after Philippine authorities were informed by the Australian Federal Police about the illegal activities.
The arrested woman is facing charges for violating the Republic Act 10364, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
Meanwhile, her children are now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and are receiving trauma-informed aftercare services. (Jeffrey Damicog)
