TACLOBAN City – A municipal vice mayor faces raps for arguing with police personnel manning border control point at San Juanico Bridge in this city.
Vice Mayor Edgar Boco of Hernani, Eastern Samar has been charged for violations of Section 9 of Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority).
Boco reportedly shouted and finger-pointed at the police officers manning the checkpoint, led by Lt. Alvin Capatoy, while being asked for his documents while entering the city last Monday afternoon.
Initial investigation disclosed that Boco’s vehicle was flagged down at the checkpoint. The suspect, together with four others including a senior citizen onboard an SUV, was not able to present a travel pass, residence certificate, and health certification required from their rural health unit.
Boco allegedly shouted at one of the police officers and questioned them as to why they were asking for the documents. He also stepped out of the vehicle and began finger-pointing at them.
Earlier, City Mayor Alfred Romualdez warned the public that the city government would seriously implement the general community quarantine (GCQ) until May 15, following the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
