INFANTA, Quezon – Police shot dead a bolo-wielding man who ran amuck in Barangay Gumian, this town, Sunday morning.
The police identified the amok as Arnel Oliva.
Based on police report, Infanta police received a call at about 2:15 a.m. from barangay councilman Celso Avenilla informing them that the suspect, who was armed with a bolo, was creating trouble in their village, causing fear among residents.
Police responded on board a patrol car and asked the suspect to calm down.
The suspect, however, ran closer to the police, then hacked it several times.
The cops still tried to pacify the suspect but, instead of heeding their order, he continued attacking them. This forced the police to shoot him.
The wounded suspect was rushed to Claro M. Recto Hospital but he was declared dead upon arrival.
Police said they were conducting investigation to determine the reason why Oliva went wild. (Danny Estacio)
