DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has condemned the attack of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels on the 16th Infantry Battalion (IB) in Paquibato District which resulted in the death of a soldier and wounding two others.
In their statement released on Saturday night, the attack happened at Sitio Manipis in the said area on May 8.
The DCPO said amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis, the NPA attack against the soldiers is an affront, not to the military, but to the Filipinos’ sense of love and compassion for its countrymen deeply affected by this plight.
The military said the soldiers were on their way to conduct monitoring prior to a humanitarian assistance operation when the attack happened.
“We expressed our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fallen soldier and wished a speedy recovery to those injured,” the DCPO said. (Armando B. Fenequito Jr.)
