DAVAO CITY – A personnel of the Central 911 here has been terminated from employment for violating existing protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The personnel, Reego Vismanos, was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao last May 8.
In a statement on Tuesday, Central 911 chief Emmanuel Jaldon said the incident happened “while Davao City was strictly under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).”
Jaldon said that while Vismanos survived the shooting, his companion Joaquin Fordaliza died.
“Vismanos and Fordaliza’s trip to Maguindanao was unofficial,” he said, noting that the incident remains to be a subject of a police investigation.
“Obviously, however, there was a flagrant disregard of the measures that the City Government of Davao put in place to fight the spread of the deadly Covid-19,” Jaldon added.
Because of this, the agency chief said, the services of Vismanos at Central 911 are being discontinued “effective immediately.”
“Let this serve as a reminder for others that the City Government of Davao does not tolerate personnel who boldly defy policies — setting a bad example for others,” Jaldon said. (Warren Elijah E. Valdez)
