Police are searching for a barangay kagawad who stabbed a man after an argument regarding the distribution of financial assistance in Barangay 106,Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the victim as Moises Tabilog, 54, jobless; and the suspect as Arthur Magtalas, 62. Both are residents of the said area.
Investigation showed that Tabilog, who was drunk at the time, went to the barangay hall on Monday and complained about not being registered as a beneficiary of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Magtalas suddenly slapped the victim out of anger, police said. This escalated into a fist fight that was broken up by other barangay officials.
While on his way home, Tabilog was stabbed by the suspect twice before fleeing.
Tabilog was rushed to Tondo Medical Center, where he is currently confined.
Follow-up operation is ongoing for the arrest of the suspect. (Minka Tiangco)
