The Department of Justice (DoJ) said the teacher, who offered a P5-million reward to kill President Duterte in his social media post, can post bail.
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said teacher Ronnel Mas will be charged with inciting to sedition in Zambales next week.
Despite this, Malcontento reminded that the case is bailable and “you need not wait for the inquest resolution before one can post bail.”
“Call na n’ya ‘yan and his defense team kasi from the start bailable ‘yan,” said Malcontento.
Last Tuesday, the NBI presented Mas for inquest before the DoJ for inciting to sedition in relation to Republic Act 10175, the Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012, and for violating RA 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials.
The NBI’s Dagupan Distirct Office (NBI-DADO) arrested Mas last Monday in Barangay North Poblacion in Sta. Cruz, Zambales for his post on his Twitter account.
His post read: “I will give P50 Million reward kung sino makakapatay kay Duterte.”
Following the posting, the NBI immediately tracked his whereabouts and arrested the 25-year-old teacher who teaches social studies at the Taltal National High School. (Jeffrey Damicog)
