The woman, who was caught on now viral video disobeying police officers manning a quarantine checkpoint in Caloocan City, has been turned over to police custody to face charges.
Mickaela Manzol, 27, will be charged with resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, alarm and scandal, and unjust vexation, according to the Caloocan City Police.
She was also issued a violation receipt by the local government.
Cases against Manzol came after she was seen in a seven-minute video arguing with authorities on Thursday afternoon and insisting to enter Barangay 156 in Bagong Barrio area, which was placed on lockdown by Mayor Oca Malapitan.
Uniformed personnel were explaining to Manzol that she was not allowed in the area, especially that she was not wearing a face mask, but the latter refused to listen.
“Iaabot nga lang [‘yung bag],” she told one police officer, “Wala akong paki sayo, sino ka ba?”
According to a spot report, the police even offered to just bring her bag to its supposed recipient, “but in response, [Manzol] got irked and forced herself to enter and [broke through] the barrier” set up to cordon off the area.
After at least seven minutes of warning, Manzol still did not comply with the orders, prompting the lawmen to nab her.
The Barangay 156 in Bagong Barrio had been placed under a six-day hard lockdown to stem the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in the area after recording at least 25 confirmed cases. It was initially set for only two-day lockdown but Malacapitan said “it was not enough.”
The city public information office said that they would conduct mass testing and contract tracing during the period of lockdown, while the local government is providing food supplies to those who are not allowed to go outside. (Joseph Pedrajas)
