JOY IN KUNDIMAN: Under “house arrest’’ for about two months now, people have been discovering, re-discovering old and new interests. Thanks to TV and new media, they are connected to the outside world that offers them all kinds of entertainment, including, why yes, the kundiman.
Online programming premiered on May 6 a joint performance of kundiman singers paying tribute to Nicanor Abelardo.
The online series, called “Kundiman, Kuwentuhan at Katuwaan (KKK),” is presented by Performatibo Manila founded by Vim Nadera.

YOUNG SINGERS: “KKK’s” second installment, “3some: Santiago, Abelardo at Molina,” aired last May 13 on Performatibo Manila Facebook Live.
The show paid tribute to Kings of Kundiman Francisco Santiago, Nicanor Abelardo, and Antonio Molina.
Bridging the gap between old and new, a young generation of kundiman singers graced the telecast, namely: Alijah May Requillo Raz, Bernadette Mamauag, Greg de Leon, Hesusa Labaro Mosquera, Khevin Almario, Lorraine Lisen, Nazer Salcedo, Nolito Gregorio, Ron Biñas, Zscharmaine Barretto.
Vim served as host, with Arne Sunico Lubasan as pianist, and the special participation of Prof. Harold Galang.
Vim says Performatibo Manila hopes to share joy to viewers through our own heritage in this time of pandemic.
Every episode carries historical footnotes on the composer, how the song was born, etc. Viewers may also interpret any kundiman for possible airing in future episodes. Send video to [email protected] .
