LOS BANOS, Laguna- Three persons died allegedly after drinking “lambanog” at Purok 5, Barangay Maahas, here, police reported Sunday.
Police identified the fatalities as Christian Macasinag, 34, a PWD; Analyn Jubilo, 31; and Regino Lapitan, 47, farmer, all residents of Barangay Maahas.
Their fellow drinker, Cornelio Tandang, 56, a farmer, survived.
According to police report, Lapitan died on Sunday at 3 a.m. and Jubilo at 2 p.m. Saturday at the hospital; while Macasinag died at his residence at 7:30 p. m. also on Saturday.
Police probers learned from witnesses Joel Arcena and Allan Ariston that the victims together with four others had a drinking spree at the house of one Tito Macasinag situated in the middle of the field of Sitio Ibaba, Purok 5 on May 15 at 7 p.m.
It was found out that the “lambanog” they consumed was bought from one Rodel Valdez, 36, a businessman, and Dary Remegio, 40, residents of Dulong Dangka, Brgy. Bayog.
At about 9 a.m. on Saturday, the victims suffered stomach ache.
Macasinag died at his residence, while the two other victims were taken to the hospital but one of them died while undergoing treatment.
Police said the bodies of the victims will be subjected to autopsy while police investigation is ongoing. (Danny Estacio)
