KIDAPAWAN CITY – Authorities arrested on Sunday a 37-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed to death a three-year old boy in a remote village in President Roxas, North Cotabato, police official said.
Major Rolly Oranza, chief of President Roxas Police, identified the suspect as Arlene Jabido, plain housewife and a resident of Barangay Kamarahan.
Witnesses told police that Jabido, armed with a knife, attacked the boy who was just playing outside their house, around 9 a.m.
Witnesses froze looking at the sight and they said no one of them could come near the suspect as she was fuming mad at that time. They sought help from their barangay officials who immediately asked for police assistance.
Jabido’s husband told police that since lockdown, he could no longer buy medicines for his wife.
Also, he lost his job due to community quarantine so they have limited food on the table.
He also has no means to bring his wife to the hospital as skylab or “habal-habal” or extended motorcycles are not allowed to operate during the community quarantine.
These incidents might have piled up and caused severe depression of Jabido, according to police investigators.
Jabido was placed in a separate cell at the President Roxas municipal police station.
The family and relatives of the victim have yet to decide if they will file murder charges against the suspect. (Malu Cadelina Manar)
