The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in San Juan has reached 300 as two new confirmed cases were recently reported, Mayor Francis Zamora said Thursday.
Zamora said there were currently 40 COVID-19 deaths, 140 patients under isolation or admitted in hospitals, and 129 recoveries in San Juan City — the epicenter of the local transmission of the disease in the country.
“Wala man pong San Juañenong gumaling mula sa Covid-19 ay salamat na rin dahil wala namang binawian ng buhay sa loob ng 24 oras. May dalawang naidagdag lang po sa tala ng bagong kaso,” he said.
Based on the data released by the local government, Barangay Greenhills currently has the most number of COVID-19 cases with 56 confirmed cases, nine deaths, and 24 recoveries.
The neighboring Barangay West Crame came second with 32 confirmed cases, five deaths, and 14 recoveries.
On May 16, Zamora said it now takes at least eight days for the COVID-19 cases to double in number in the city.
“We will continue to implement strict protocols to ensure the safety and good health of San Juaneños during the MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine),” he said. (Jhon Casinas)
