A former soldier, listed as a high-value drug target, was caught transporting shabu in Barangay Maddarulug, Solana, Cagayan, police reported Monday.
Joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 2, the Police Regional Office 2 and Solano Police arrested the Ricardo Cabalza Jr., 48, now a businessman, of San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City.
Operatives were alerted when they received information that the suspect was transporting illegal drugs aboard a gray Suzuki Swift vehicle from Manila early dawn on May 23.
PDEA and PNP operatives flagged down the suspect’s vehicle in Solana for inspection, which led to the discovery of suspected shabu weighing 63.2865 grams worth P430,348.20.
Also confiscated from the suspect were a cellular phone, a small coin purse containing several debit cards, and the Suzuki Swift with conduction sticker GI R460, police said.
A case for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) of Article II of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the suspect. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
