CAGAYAN – Three persons were injured when an ambulance fell into a deep ravine at Sitio Assaw, Bitag Grande, Baggao here last Sunday.
It was learned that the ambulance was rushing a patient to Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) when the incident happened due to slippery road at around 7:15 p.m. on May 24.
Captain Reynaldo A. Viernes, chief of Police of Baggao, identified victims as Jeric Siason, 25, driver and resident of Barangay Cataruan Dalaoaig, Alcala, Cagayan; Marjorie Magulod, 29, a nurse, of Barangay Centro, Baggao; Violet Dumayag, 50, and Alvaro Dumayag, 52, both residents of Barangay Hacienda-Intal, Baggao.
Baggao police said the accident happened while Alvaro was being rushed to the hospital after he attempted to end his life by drinking varnish.
“May mga galos sila matapos na gumulong pababa ang ambulansiya na kanilang sinakyan, a witness told police.
Barangay Captain Nuñez of Bitag Grande claimed that a landslide transpired prior to the incident due to heavy rains.
“Nagpreno umano ang ambulansiya dahil sa may biglang tumawid sa daan ngunit dumiretso ang sasakyan sa bangin,” according to source.
Residents in the area rescued the victims and brought them to the nearest hospital.
