Two Chinese “doctors,” who were allegedly running an unregistered clinic being used as a COVID-19 treatment facility, were arrested in Makati City on Tuesday night.
Major Gideon Ines Jr., Makati Police Investigation Unit chief, said that they found four Chinese patients being treated for COVID-like symptoms inside the clinic.
He identified the suspects as David Lai and Bruce Liao.
Around 4 p.m., Ines and his team raided the facility after receiving information that there were sick Chinese people going to the unregistered clinic located on the fifth floor of La Sema Building on Sampaloc St. in Barangay San Antonio, Makati.
The name of the clinic was Goldstar Medical Clinic and Pharmacy, he said.
Ines said they were occupying the whole 5th floor of the building.
“We found four Chinese patients confined there. They said that are experiencing COVID-like symptoms,” he said.
According to Ines, they went to the clinic and used a Chinese asset to transact with the unregistered clinic.
“We used a Chinese asset to pretend that he is sick and need treatment,” he said.
“Despite not being really ill, the Chinese doctor told him that he may need to be confined at their facility,” the Investigation chief said.
The police said they gave their asset medicines for his “fever.”
Ines said several Chinese drugs and rapid testing Kit and medicines for COVID-19, and swab test kit were confiscated at clinic, which is worth around P5.2 million
“There were so many medicines. They also have COVID-19 testing kits,” he said. (Jel Santos)
