Sta. Ana Hospital, one of the six district hospitals in the city of Manila, discharged its 100th coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) survivor on Thursday.
Emily del Rosario, the 100th COVID patient released from the hospital, was one of the four cases — two senior citizens and two adults — who were sent home that day.
According to the hospital’s COVID-19 report, the patients were confined at the Manila Infectious Disease Control Center (MIDCC), a facility that caters to COVID-19 patients with mild to severe symptoms. It is located on the 10th floor of Sta. Ana Hospital, the sole district hospital in the country’s capital assigned to handle COVID-19 cases.
Del Rosario said she stayed at the hospital for a month and 10 days before being declared COVID-19-free.
When she tested positive for the disease, she experienced fever, lost of sense of taste and smell, difficulty in breathing, and pneumonia.
The COVID-19 survivor thanked the Manila City government and the administration and health workers of Sta. Ana Hospital after she was discharged.
The hospital administration also gave tokens of appreciation to five of its frontline health workers who tended to those who recovered from COVID-19. They were identified as Toni Paris, Patrick Tan, Gwendolyn Garcia, Mike Villaflor, and Alma Ronquillo.
Sta. Ana Hospital’s latest report also showed that 19 of its patients died while receiving medical treatment while one was pronounced dead-on-arrival. Six probable COVID-19 cases also expired.
It has also exceeded its capacity by 145.5 percent. The 33 bed-capacity facility is currently tending to 48 patients.
Meanwhile, 24 of the hospital’s health workers have contracted the disease while 22 have recovered, its report showed.
Earlier, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said the city has a high recovery rate and a low mortality rate.
Data from the city government showed that the Philippine capital now has 391 recoveries and 101 deaths as of Thursday night.
The city also has a total of 1,329 COVID-19 cases. (Minka Tiangco)
