Former senator Ramon Revilla Sr. was rushed to hospital on Sunday but is now “conscious and responsive”, said his son, Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
The younger Revilla confirmed that his father was rushed to two hospitals at around 6 p.m. after experiencing difficulty in breathing.
“He was hard of breathing and was somewhat unresponsive. From St. Dominic Medical Center where he was given First Aid and Emergency Medical Services, he was transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City where is now undergoing treatment,” he said in a statement to reporters late Sunday night.
“Kasalukuyan po siyang nakakabit sa ventilator, but thank God, he is now conscious and responsive,” he added.
Sen. Bong appealed for prayers for his father: “Patuloy po kaming humihiling ng inyong panalangin para muli niyang malampasan itong kanyang karamdaman.”
“We will ask his doctors to provide medical bulletins as they become available,” he also said.
The 93-year-old former senator and actor has gone in and out of the hospital due to various health concerns.
In 2018, he was brought to St. Luke’s due to aspiration pneumonia. The previous year, he suffered from pneumonia and occult gastro-intestinal bleeding, and had to undergo gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Before that, he also underwent “transarterial aortic valve replacement.” (Vanne Terrazola)
