BACOLOD CITY – A personnel of the legal service of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) headquarters here was wounded in an ambush at Camelot, Barangay Estefania here on Sunday.
Staff Sgt. Miguel Perez, 43, was riding a Toyota Wigo on his way home when unidentified armed men fired their M16 rifles at his vehicle.
Maj. Charles Gever, head of Police Station 4, said the suspects positioned themselves behind the bushes and riddled the policeman’s car with bullets.
“It was probably well-planned because the attackers knew his route during that time of the day,” he added.
Gever said the victim was hit in his left shoulder and was taken to a hospital.
He said they are looking into job-related and grudge as possible motives behind the attack.
He said that the victim had not revealed any threats against him prior to the incident.
