A three-year-old boy died after being hit by a dump truck loaded with gravel and sand along provincial road in Barangay Rizal, Cauayan City, Isabela at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Cauayan police said the driver of the dump truck, Michael Mangaoang, 46, a resident of Alicia, Isabela, was arrested after the incident.
Investigation showed that the dump truck was travelling towards Poblacion Cauayan when it hit the victim, Wilfredo Aglugob, upon reaching the descending portion of the road.
The driver told probers that he tried to evade the victim when he saw him crossing the road but to no avail.
The victim died on the spot from serious body injuries.
The suspect together with his dump truck was brought to Cauayan City for proper disposition. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
