DAVAO CITY – A municipal councilor from Kiblawan, Davao del Sur province, and his two companions were arrested on Saturday after being caught in the act sniffing shabu in a public market here.
Police identified the suspects as Kiblawan Councilor Cipriano Ponce Sarona; Butch Eltagonde Amarillo, a contractual driver of Kiblawan; and Archie Napoles Truya, a mango harvester from Tugbok District in Davao City.
A report obtained from Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed that the three suspects were arrested at around 11:40 a.m. inside a stall in Barangay 6-A Bankerohan Public Market.
DCPO director Colonel Kirby John Kraft said through a Viber message that Sarona and his companions were found sniffing suspected crystal meth or shabu during their anti-illegal drugs operation in the area.
Recovered from the possession of the suspects were four sachets sachets containing suspected shabu, four improvised aluminum foil tooters, aluminum foil, and two lighters with improvised aluminum foil needles.
Kraft said Sarona is considered a high-value target and is included in the drug list of the DCPO.
He added that the three suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). (Ivy Tejano)
