DoST’s washable face mask, nakakabilib!

TULOY ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng “iBILIB” host na si Chris Tiu sa Department of Science and Technology (DoST) bilang brand ambassador nito.

Kelan lang ay naglabas ng isang promotional video ang DoST sa binuo nilang sustain­able mask na puwedeng gami­tin ng maraming frontliners at ng iba pang mamamayan. Ang tawag dito ay REwear mask.

Ayon kay Chris, ang na­turang mask ay coated with liquid repellency finish na nagbibigay extra protection sa mga magsusuot nito.

Maaari raw gamitin ang na­turang mask ng 50 beses basta sundan lang ang wastong pa­glilinis dito.

Praktikal daw gamitin ito dahil hindi siya isang gamitan lang tulad ng mga disposable face mask.

“To fight COVID-19 the Philip­pine Textile Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) created the REwear mask.

“REwear stands for reus­able, washable, rewearable products. So, in simple terms Rewear mask is a cloth mask made smart!

“Ordinary face masks made of cloth has the 1st function of protecting us from street pollution. With PTRI’s Smar­Tex program the fabric used for the face mask is coated with a liquid repellency finish, giving it the 2nd function. It repels liquid droplets that can cause viral infections.”
