CAGAYAN — A barangay chairman was arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police in a drug bust in Barangay San Francisco Baggao, Cagayan.
Ulong Tumaneng, 50, a resident of Barangay San Francisco, Baggao, Cagayan was nabbed at about 5:50 p.m. Thursday during a buy-bust operation.
“Nakampante siya na walang ibang tao sa lugar na tagpuan ng poseur-buyer kaya nakumbensi ito na magbenta at nabulaga na lang nang madatingan ang operatiba,” a PDEA officer said.
The operatives confiscated from the suspect around one gram of suspected shabu.
PDEA said suspect had been placed under surveillance for his illegal activities.
PDEA Information Officer III Louella A. Tomas said that the suspect was a drug surrenderer who underwent a community-based rehabilitation and Wellness program for more than a month.
The suspect’s source of illegal drugs was in Manila, according to PDEA.
A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
