Butch Ramirez will be taking time off as chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission to attend to his wife’s medical needs.
In a letter to President Duterte through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea dated June 19, Ramirez applied for a sick leave from June 22 until July 17 to take care of his wife, who went under the knife recently.
Apart from removing several stones, Ramirez’s wife also underwent bile duct surgery due to small stones blockade.
“She is in dire need of my personal care and full attention,” Ramirez said in the letter.
The PSC chief and his wife have been staying at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City since quarantine was imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ramirez assured Malacañang he will be back on July 20.
In his absence, he recommended that one of the three commissioners – Charles Maxey, Ramon Fernandez and Celia Kiram – be appointed as officer-in-charge.
