Mike Plania, the first Filipino fighter to return to the ring during the coronavirus era, is scheduled to arrive in the country on Friday, according to the hard-hitting prospect’s chief handler.
Two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Plania upset world No. 1 Joshua Greer via split decision during a Top Rank show.
Plania could not immediately fly back to Manila owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and had to patiently wait for the go-signal from manager JC Mananquil before packing his bags.
As per government orders, Plania will be subjected to safety protocols, including testing and quarantine before being allowed to reunite with his family in General Santos City.
Mananquil said the future looks bright for Plania, who is expected to cash in on his victory when he gets to fight again.
