ISULAN, SULTAN KUDARAT – A policeman was killed while two others were wounded after two gunmen shot them while they were conducting quarantine control checkpoint in Esperanza town last Thursday.
The fatality was identified as Executive Master Sergeant Arnold Paclibar while the wounded as Staff Sergeant Chato Maycong and Josephine Libradilla, a barangay health worker.
Major Gary Marfil, Esperanza police chief, said the suspects aboard a motorcycle shot the policemen together with village watchmen who flagged them down along national highway in Barangay Poblacion.
He said the motorcycle backrider shot the victims after he refused to open the sling bag he was carrying.
Police said the suspects also took away the 9mm service pistol of Paclibar who succumbed to three bullet wounds in the body.
Marfil said addional policemen and soldiers were deployed in the locality to augment the local police force in maintaining the peace and security in the area. (Joseph Jubelag)
