BACOLOD CITY – An alleged drug suspect was killed Friday after he reportedly resisted arrest while P700,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the fatality as John Ross Repique, 39, of the said village, who is the subject of the operation.
According to the police, Repique allegedly fired his gun at the police operatives, prompting the latter to retaliate.
Repique was brought to Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The operation was led by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-6, and Kabankalan City Police Station.
Police recovered from the scene a .38-caliber revolver, five live ammunition and a fired cartridge of the said firearm, and a fired cartridge of .9mm caliber.
Authorities also recovered during the operation a bag, 20 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 102.94 grams, an improvised tooter, P34,000 boodle money, P200 cash, and P1,100 marked money. (Glazyl Masculino)
