What would do you if you are given a truckload of money?
For President Duterte, that pile of money or bribe is useless since he cannot be bought and has really no need for it.
“You are wasting your time. Hindi na kaya bilhin. Matanda na eh. Alam mo bakit? Bigyan mo ako ng ilan? Isang truck na pera? Anong gawain ko sa pera?
Sige nga (I cannot be bought. I’m old. You know why? You’d give me how much? A truckload of money? What do I do with the money? Go ahead),” the President said during his televised remarks in Davao City early Wednesday.
“Sa tanda ko (At my old age), I hate to travel. You travel, you get COVID,” the former Davao City mayor added.
The 75-year-old Duterte has other hobbies such as collecting rare guns but he is still not tempted to accept bribes.
“Mayroon akong baril mga collection, mga rare, antique ganon pero ‘yang military hardware wala ako niyan, hindi ako mahilig ng… Iyong mga hobby-hobby lang. Iyong travel, I cannot travel anymore. Totoo ‘yan. Wala na ‘yan sa amin,” he said.
The President has often declared his zero tolerance for corruption, firing several officials for such alleged wrongdoing since he assumed office in 2016.
