The Ninoy Aquino Stadium (NAS) is almost filled to capacity once again with the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
As of Thursday, the admission at the NAS is just two beds short of the maximum 112, according to PSC Deputy Executive Director Guillermo Iroy.
Of the 110 admitted at the temporary facility on Adriatico Street, 103 are male and seven are female.
The neighboring Rizal Memorial Coliseum, about two hundred meters away and located on Pablo Ocampo (Vito Cruz), isn’t available yet to house patients but will do so following the completion of the disinfection.
The Rizal Coliseum is also undergoing some repairs.
The NAS and Coliseum were rehabilitated last year for the staging of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Over at the Multi-Purpose Arena (Philsports) in Pasig, there are 68 admitted, 43 male and 25 female).
The Philsports has a maximum bed capacity of 132 and with the rise in cases, it is expected that the vacancies will soon be filled.
The same thing with the NAS, which is actually on its second stage of treating patients.
Patients admitted at these government-owned venues are those with mild symptoms.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and Department of Health are in charge of running the daily operations of these venues.
