Police are hunting down the man accused of killing a 14-year-old girl inside her house in Caloocan City on Tuesday night.
Police said the victim, Garlene Teria, was found dead and hogtied with no undergarments right inside her home in Pangarap Village.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Diomedes Llames, remains at large.
According to a police report, Teria’s body was discovered by her mother, Mary Jean, after returning to their house around 7 p.m. The victim was lying face down and covered with blood. Her hands and feet were tied with a nylon cord and her neck bore several stab wounds.
It was not yet clear if the victim was also molested.
Police said the victim’s mother named Llames as the suspect in her daughter’s killing as she saw him coming out of their house when she arrived.
Llames’ shirt was also stained with blood, she said.
In a television interview, Mary Jean added that she and Llames had engaged in several heated arguments, the most recent of which was when the suspect accused her of being infected with coronavirus.
Gusto n’ya kasi mawala ako dito sa bahay na ‘to, kasi ito pinatira samin, pero ako nauna tumira dito (He wanted us out here in our house. We were just tenants here but I’m the one who first settled here),” the victim’s mother said over GMA News interview.
Before the incident, she said, she saw the suspect spying on them.
“Sumisilip pala d’yan sa bintana nila. Sinisilip niya ako kung anong pinag-uusapan namin, ang isip n’ya, sya ang pinag-kekwentuhan,” she added.
A neighbor sought assistance from police who immediately responded to the crime scene.
Police have launched a manhunt against Llames.
