AI-AI WITH EUGENE – Now that Ai-Ai de las Alas is a GMA Artist Center talent, management can perhaps tap her dramatic prowess to the hilt. Yes, you read it right, dramatic prowess.
While primarily known as a comedienne, Ai-Ai won international and local awards for two dramas, Louie Ignacio’s “School Service” and “Area.” Why not cast Ai-Ai in GMA’s telenovelas, the heavier the better?
She can pit acting talent with, say, Eugene Domingo, a product of UP theater. Or with the likes of such Kapuso stars as Lovi Poe, Jennylyn Mercado, Carla Abellana, Dennis Trillo, Alden Richards, Tom Rodriguez, Glaiza de Castro, Dingdong Dantes, fine actors all.
This is not to say that she’ll forget comedy altogether. Why not team up with Willie Revillame in “Wowowin” every now and then?
Just a thought. Ai-Ai and Superstar Nora Aunor in a drama special?
KAPUSO FIRST – Ai-Ai de las Alas likes to recall that she was a Kapuso first before becoming a Kapamilya. She was on the late-night show “R.S.V.P” in 1991, playing Cheenie La Chika.
This was followed by “Lunch Date,” “Salu-Salo Together,” and “1 For 3” with Bossing Vic Sotto. She transferred in 1996 to ABS-CBN. She returned to GMA in 2015.
She has a five-year contract with GMA Artist Center. By the time her contract ends, she’ll be a senior citizen…and ready to take it easy. Not really retire but simply to take it easy.
By the way, Boy Abunda is still her manager, co-managing her career with GMA Artist Center.
MRS. SIBAYAN – Off cam, Ai-Ai is Mrs. Gerald Sibayan. He is a pilot. They’ve been together for six years. Three as sweethearts, and three as man and wife.
