The Paranaque City government has announced that business establishments in the city will be given a two-week extension to pay their business taxes.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that since the country is already under the general community quarantine and has allowed the opening and operation of businesses, the city can now collect payment for their business taxes which is due on July 30.
Olivarez said that last March 21, the city council passed a resolution easing the burden of the city residents in paying their taxes while the country is still under enhanced community quarantine.
He said that after passing the resolution for tax relief, Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Lawyer Melanie Malaya came out with a memorandum advising all businesses in the city that the payment of their taxes for the second and third quarter must be made together on April 20 up to July 20 without the imposition of penalties and surcharges.
The mayor also encourages tax payers to use the on-line appointment and application process for business related-transactions of the BPLO.
Olivarez said that the BPLO introduced on June 3 the online appointment system (OAS) and the online business application system (OBA) to further improve the business registration.
“The primary purpose of this on-line government services is to reduce the waiting hours in any request or transaction as a precautionary health measure to limit face-to-face interactions under the general community quarantine, “Olivarez said. (Jean Fernando)
