With the positive response from basketball fans following the announcement of the moniker change from Elite to ‘Bossing’, Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy on Thursday said he has instructed his office to stage a logo-making contest.
“I’m overwhelmed by the public response on our new moniker,” said Sy in a text message.
“That’s why I immediately asked my marketing team to immediately make a (logo) contest on the design so that there’s active participation on the PBA and Blackwater fanatics,” added Sy.
Sy announced the moniker replacement last Saturday on The Chasedown on CignalTV’s One PH channel.
He said the change of moniker was because of his admiration for popular TV host comedian Vic Sotto – known in the showbiz industry as ‘bossing’.
The longtime basketball patron said he hopes to someday forge a partnership with Sotto – probably when the coronavirus pandemic is over.
For now, Sy’s focus is on his team, especially the new moniker.
Blackwater consultant and Ever Bilena sports director Ariel Vanguardia said management has already posted on the team’s social media page mechanics of the contest, which is open to the public here and abroad.
“Ang ganda kasing idea na magkaroon ng ganitong klaseng contest dahil may engagement sa basketball fans, hindi lang sa Blackwater. So hopefully marami ang sumali,” said Vanguardia.
“Saka yun nga Bossing ang bagong tawag sa team, kumbaga pag sinabi mong ‘bossing’ di ba maiisip mo yung respeto, magaling at mahal ng tao, kagaya ng sabi ni boss Dioceldo… ‘pang masa’ di ba,” he added.
The winner would receive a cash incentive plus 10,000 worth of gift certificate from Blackwater and Ever Bilena.
