There are now a total of four fatalities and 31 injured among Filipinos in Beirut in the aftermath of the powerful blasts that rocked the Lebanese capital, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.
“We are saddened by the latest turn of developments. The higher figure comes as our Embassy personnel work to ascertain the condition of the Filipinos in its jurisdiction,” the DFA’s Office of Migrant Workers Affairs said in a statement.
Quoting reports from the Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Ajeet Panemanglor, the DFA said two of the 31 injured Filipinos remain in critical condition and are confined at Rizk Hospital in the capital Beirut.
The report added that one household service worker remains missing as of this time.
“Our Embassy officials shall continue to ascertain the condition of our community in Beirut,” the DFA said as it reaffirms its commitment to bring the much-needed support and assistance to the Filipino community in Lebanon, particularly in Beirut. (Roy Mabasa)
