BY RONALD CONSTANTINO
At the outset, let it be said that with Perci Intalan as head of TV5 programming, the Kapatid network is in good hands. Experienced, capable, well meaning.
For a start, it’s perfectly understandable why TV5 is “borrowing” talents from GMA and ABS-CBN. To date, the likes of Ryan Agoncillo, Pauleen Luna, Ria Atayde, Jessy Mendiola, Jose Manalo, Pokwang, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Joross Gamboa, Janice de Belen have new shows on TV5.
In no time, other “imported” faces will appear on TV5, including ABS-CBN talents, who were “orphaned” by the forced shutdown.
But what this columnist wants to see is for TV5 to have its own homegrown talents. For TV5 to discover and nurture its exclusive actors, singers, hosts, models, and other artists.
TV5 might have its own Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Perhaps even Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo.
A tall order. But Perci can do it.
While at it, Perci can revive TV5 Films. He can start with a project by Jun Lana, Perci’s business and domestic partner. Jun has directed commercial and artistic hits.
TV5 has its own cable TV, Cignal. It will be the main outlet of blocktimers.
Oh, for a start TV5 might consider having its noontime show.
Your move, Perci Intalan.
