BUTUAN CITY – An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) finance staffer was arrested at a checkpoint on Marihatag-Cagwait national road in Surigao del Sur on Thursday, the military reported Friday.
Lt. Krisjuper Andreo J. Punsalan, Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer of 3rd Special Forces Battalion (3SFBN) said the suspect, Sarvina R. Quijano alias Soping, was apprehended at a checkpoint while onboard a multi-cab.
The troops manning the checkpoint noticed a rifle grenade in the multi-cab which prompted them to search the vehicle, Punsalan said.
“The search led to the discovery of two improvised explosive devices, a blasting cap with detonating cord, three rifle grenades, five analog cellular phones, one Lenovo tablet, subversive documents, numerous SIM cards, external drive and a memory card allegedly owned by the suspect,” he said.
Quijano was turned over to the custody of the 1st Police Mobile Force Company for documentation and filing of appropriate criminal charges, Punsalan said. (Mike Crismundo)
