The Pasig City government has built high-speed internet access centers in support of the distance learning setup for this school year.
Mayor Vico Sotto said Friday (Aug. 21) parents and teachers can download and upload the learning modules of students at the internet access centers.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has stood firm with its decision to push through with the opening of classes on Oct. 5 through distance learning set up despite opposition from some groups. Under the distance learning setup, a combination of online and module-based learning format will be implemented.
“Sa distance learning modules ng DepEd, di kailangan ng mag-aaral ng internet connection sa bahay,” Sotto. “Pero kailangan pa rin ng centers kung saan maaaring mag-download ang mga magulang kung walang access sa bahay,” he added.
The mayor explained that the downloading of modules will be done every two weeks and by schedule.
“Magagamit din ng mga guro ang high-speed internet para i-upload ang mga modules,” he said, adding that the project is in cooperation with property development firm FinAsia.
Last May 26, the mayor announced that the city government will procure learning devices for students and improve internet connectivity in the barangay level as the education system in the country gears towards distance learning amid the pandemic. (Jhon Casinas)
