Philippines’ top junior netter Alex Eala outclassed her foreign rivals on the way to winning the XXXII Circuit Illes Baleats Toni Nadal Heliocare Tournament in Mallorca, Spain.
The world No. 4 capped her dominating performance by routing Matilda Mutavdzic of Great Britain, 4-0, 4-1, in her first tournament post-quarantine.
Prior to her final victory, she blanked Sofia Neri, 4-0, 4-0, and third seed Isabella Righi, 4-0, 4-0, both from Italy.
Eala and her brother, Miko, have been training at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy and have been looking forward to competing in future events when tennis tournaments slowly open up in European countries.
She is actually using her recent stint as a springboard to her return to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit next month.
The 15-year-old Eala, who won the 2020 Australian Open doubles title with Indonesian partner Priska Nugroho, is scheduled to compete in the ITF Grade 2 and Grade 1 tournaments in Hungry on Sept. 7 to 14.
She is likewise looking forward to competing in the French Open rescheduled in October.
