The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Friday filed another batch of criminal charges againstĀ five companies for alleged non-payment of taxes amounting to more than P238 million.
This brought to 25 the number of business enterprises charged with tax evasion since Wednesday in a bid to collect back taxes amounting to more than P1.4 billion.
South NCR Revenue Regional Director Glen Geraldino identified the accused in separate formal complaints filed with the Department of Justice as Air Ads, Dream Line Services, Penn Philippines, Quick-Serve Station and Alliah Collection and Accessories.
The highest deficiency tax assessment of more than P163 million was imposed against Penn.
Key officers of the said companies were also included in the charges.
South NCR , formerly part of the Makati revenue region covers the cities of Pasay, Paranaque, Taguig, Las Pinas and Muntinglupa.
Geraldino said he recommended to Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay the filing of the tax cheating charges after the respondents ignored assessment and collection notices to settle the the long overdue accounts.
The tax debts were incurred in 2011 and prior years.(Jun Ramirez)
