Customs and anti-narcotics agents arrested a man who claimed a parcel containing 500 grams of high-grade marijuana worth around P808,000 in a warehouse in Pasay City, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) reported Saturday.
Operatives of the BoC, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Task Force nabbed Kevin dela Cruz during a controlled delivery operation.
The parcel, misdeclared as “4m kids labs remote control detector robot kit”, was shipped by a certain “Toynk Toys” from Markham, Canada, the BoC bared.
The package yielded suspected images of dangerous drugs when subjected to x-ray scanning by personnel of the X-ray Inspection Project.
NAIA customs examiners found high-grade marijuana inside the parcel when they conducted a 100-percent physical examination.
The parcel was immediately turned over to PDEA, which later mapped out a controlled delivery operation.
Dela Cruz is now undergoing further investigation at PDEA.
The BoC said all persons involved in the illegal importation of the dangerous drug will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. (Ariel Fernandez)
