Online ‘karate wonder’ James De los Santos isn’t about to rest on his laurels as he looks to capture more gold medals when he competes in three tournaments this month including the prestigious SportData eTournament World Series.
The 30-year-old De los Santos bagged two gold medals last Monday, which increased his haul to eight gold medals. He also has two silvers and two bronzes since he started joining online tournaments in April.
De los Santos claimed his seventh gold medal after he ruled the Miyamoto Musashi Five Rings event before booking his 8th in the 2nd Dutch Open E-Tournament.
This month’s schedule includes the Golden League event and the 4th Adidas Karate World Open, which are now ongoing. The SportData E-Tournament World Series is set to begin Friday.
“I can say that I’m prepared for the next tournaments to come,” De los Santos told Manila Bulletin-Tempo.
“One of these tournaments I will be participating in is the most prestigious one, which is the SportData eTournament World Series. Each gold medal is worth 400-plus points in other virtual tourneys.”
“But with the SportData eTournament World Series, the amount of points is four times that of the other events. That is why I’m really preparing for this tournament.”
De los Santos also captured gold medals in the E-Champions Trophy World Series last Sunday, the e-Karate Games 2020 last Thursday, the Athletes E-Tournament last month, the Balkan Open eTournament last July, the Korokotta Cup last June and the Palestine International Karate Cup last April.
