All the mayors in the metropolis have agreed to close cemeteries in Metro Manila during the observance of “Undas” this year, an official of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) disclosed Sunday.
MMDA General Manager Jose Arturo Garcia cited the Viber Group conversation of Metro Manila mayors that they have agreed upon to close cemeteries.
However, the MMDA general manager said they have not finalized the dates and guidelines yet of the closure of cemeteries during a meeting of the Metro Manila Council (MMC).
“We have a meeting tonight at 8 for the dates and guidelines on the matter,” Garcia said.
This was also confirmed by MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago, saying the decision was “unanimous.”
On the guidelines and dates, Garcia said they are inclined to announce such on Monday morning.
The MMC is composed of 17 Metro Manila mayors. It is the governing and policy-making body of the MMDA. (Jel Santos)
