TNT KaTropa finally got in touch with Kelly Williams who recently retired after leaving the team’s training bubble.
Team manager Gabby Cui confirmed that TNT was able to contact Wiilliams but only added they will handle the situation internally.
“He has communicated with us,” said Cui. “We will handle this internally (for) now.”
Williams left during the middle of TNT’s bubble at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna without the knowledge of the team.
The former Most Valuable Player and six-time PBA champion later announced his retirement on social media, saying that “I can lay my career to rest with peace in my heart.”
TNT, however, said it only learned of Williams’ decision through the same platform.
Williams did explain in the Ultimate Fan Hub podcast the decision had nothing to do with the COVID-19 pandemic nor the health issues that affected his career.
In all, Williams played for 13 seasons in the pro league, including a stint with Sta. Lucia Realty where he won his MVP plum.
