Customs and anti-narcotics agents seized a parcel containing 980 pieces of party drug “ecstasy” worth around P 1.8 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City, officials reported Thursday.
The Bureau of Customs Port of NAIA (BoC-NAIA) turned over the confiscated illegal drug to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for case buildup against the importers and other personalities involved in the shipment of the contraband.
The parcel, misdeclared as “samples”, was shipped by a certain “U Janssen” from The Netherlands and consigned to a certain “Joey S. Ramos Jr.” of Malate, Manila.
During a 100-percent examination of the parcel, the agents found three vacuum-sealed pouches containing different colors of pills concealed in a brown envelope.
Both field test and chemical laboratory examination confirmed that the seized tablets are “ecstasy”. (Ariel Fernandez)
