PRESIDENT Duterte has expressed his dismay with Vice President Leni Robredo and other critics for their constant nitpicking over government efforts from addressing the coronavirus pandemic to the beach enhancement of Manila Bay.
According to the President, these critics would always find fault with the administration regardless of its action.
“Iyong mga bunganga niyo wala nang ginawa para lang to criticize at idiin ang administrasyon. So wala man rin silang magawa (Your mouths have done nothing but criticize and put down the administration. You have done nothing),” Duterte said in his televised address Monday night.
“Wala naman tayong magawa. You do it, may masabi sila. You do not do it, may masabi si Leni. What do you want us to do?” he said.
Duterte took offense at criticisms that the government’s alleged inadequate remorse to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
He reminded Robredo and “dilawan” critics to avoid making such “reckless statements” that the government was not doing enough to address the health situation. He asserted that the government is doing its “best” to respond to the public health emergency.
“We are doing our job, period,” he said.
“Kagaya nila na ‘yung mga dilawan. Maski anong sabihin mo, hindi mo gawin, masama ka; gawin mo, masama ka pa rin. Eh p***** i** mo anong gusto mo? Spray-han kita ng DDT? (These yellow forces. Regardless of what you say, what you do not do, you’re bad. If you do it, you’re still bad. Son of a b*tch what do you want? That I spray you with DDT?),” he said.
After a few months of strict lockdown, the government has decided to ease the quarantine measures to stimulate economic activities while ramping up health measures to contain the outbreak.
As of September 21, the country has recorded 290,190 cases of coronavirus with 4,999 deaths and 230,233 recoveries.

VP Leni answers PRRD: ‘Spray PH with pesticide’ not a solution
Vice President Leni Robredo said that providing hospitals, funeral parlors, and just waiting for a vaccine were not enough when the government still had a lot of work to do in dealing with problems brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Di ko matiis magkaroon ng takeaways. Hindi yata sapat na basta may ospital, kama at punerarya, ang kailangan na lang gawin ay maghintay ng vaccine (I can’t help but have takeaways. It seems not enough just to have hospitals, beds, and funeral parlors, that we only need to do is wait for a vaccine),” Robredo said in a Facebook post.
“Yung number 1 po, hindi ma sosolusyunan sa pag spray ng pesticide sa Manila galing sa eroplano (Number one is that spraying pesticide over Manila from an airplane is not a solution),” she added.
Robredo responded to President Duterte’s tirade against her on Monday night for her criticisms on the government’s response to the public health crisis.
The vice president has been very vocal against the supposed lapses in the COVID-campaign, among which are the lack of system and cohesive plan, and has suggested ways to address them.
“Huwag kayong maniwala diyan. Sus, itong mga dilawan lalo na, I hate to mention her name, but itong si Leni kung anu-anong pinagsasabi (Do not believe them. These Yellows especially, I hate to mention her name, but Leni has been saying a lot of things),” Duterte said during his public address.
”Alam mo Leni kung gusto mo (You know Leni), if you really want to do away with COVID, spray-an natin ang Pilipinas o Manila ng pesticide galing sa eroplano para patay lahat (let’s spray the entire Philippines or Manila with pesticides so everyone dies),” he told Robredo.
But the opposition leader disagreed.
Robredo listed the following measures for the government’s coronavirus response:
- Medical and non-medical interventions to combat the virus;
- Overcoming humanitarian emergencies including poverty, hunger, unemployment, mental distress, and other COVID-19 problems;
- Restructuring public and private finances;
- Rebuilding the economy in an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable way.
