In Memorandum Circular No. 80, the Palace has ordered the suspension of work in government offices in the Executive branch starting 3:30 p.m. Monday, September 28 “to afford government workers and their families to celebrate in their respective homes the ‘Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.’”
The “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day, which aims to celebrate the value of families sharing meals together, is held every fourth Monday of September of every year in line with the annual celebration of Family Week.
Having a common family meal encourages parents to stay connected with their children and understand the challenges they face, according to Proclamation No. 326 issued back in 2012.
In the latest Palace circular, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said agencies involved the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response and performance of other vital services will continue with their operations and render necessary services.
“The suspension of work in other branches of government, in independent commission or bodies, and in the private sector is encouraged so as to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day,” he added.
The memorandum circular, signed by Medialdea on Sept. 25, was released by the Palace Monday. (Genalyn Kabiling)
