The application, processing, and release of police clearance will soon be available in some SM malls to make it easier for people to obtain the document which is needed in job application and other purposes.
Police Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, chief of the Philippine National Police, said the move is part of the general strategy to decongest Camp Crame in Quezon City and other police camps across the country.
“I am glad to announce that the SM malls and the PNP have finalized plans to put up PNP National Police Clearance booths in SM malls nationwide in support of PNP efforts to decongest PNP camps and installations and to make this frontline service more accessible to the people,” said Cascolan in a press briefing in Camp Crame Monday.
Cascolan said the installation of booths for police clearance is one of the major outputs during the continuous dialogue with stakeholders to maximize police services to the people.
He added that on Sept. 16, a meeting was held with top officials of the SM Supermalls which led to the mall opening its doors for the police clearance service of the PNP.
Basic government services are now available in malls such like application and renewal for driver’s license.
Cascolan said that there will be soft opening of PNP clearance booths at SM Mall of Asia, Bacoor, and Southmall in the next two months.
“Decongestion and facilities development are on top of our agenda that I intend to set into motion during my tour of duty to keep the PNP at pace with all the infrastructure development around us and to establish PNP presence in areas where we are needed most,” said Cascolan.
