The secretary of Binan City council and a doctor were shot dead Sunday by car-riding armed men on Jubilation Road in Barangay San Antonio, Binan City, Laguna.
Police identified the victims as Edward Alonte Reyes, of Jubilation East, Barangay Zapote, Binan City, and Dr. Don Deocaris, of Golden Meadow, Barangay San Antonio.
Police Lt. Col. Giovanni Martinez, Binan City police chief, said the victims were on board a Chevrolet RS car on Jubilation Road when their path was blocked by a vehicle in front of a convenience store at around 7:30 p.m.
Unidentified suspects got off the vehicle and opened fire at the victims.
They were taken to the University of Perpetual Help Hospital here where they were declared dead.
According to police, Reyes survived when he was ambushed on Oct. 4, 2017 by four unidentified gunmen while driving his vehicle.
Biñan police are still conducting an investigation to identify the gunmen who fled after the incident, as well as the motive for the killing. (Danny Estacio)
