Team Lakay’s lightweight contender Eduard Folayang is set to make a comeback in the circle this month.
No less than ONE CEO and founder Chatri Sidyodtong confirmed the recent development during a worldwide media conference call Tuesday Manila time.
Sityodtong said the 36-year-old Folayang will be facing Australian foe Antonio Caruso on Oct. 30 in ONE: Inside the Matrix, an event that also features four world title fights.
“That will also be on the main card,” Sityodtong said.
The two-time lightweight champion, who now holds a 22-9 record, is seeking redemption from his loss to Dutchman Pieter Buist last February in the hopes of earning more points for a future title shot.
On the other hand, the 29-year-old Caruso (7-1) tasted his first defeat in eight fights against Buist in October of last year.
Sityodtong, in a separate announcement two weeks ago, also confirmed future events lined up for Team Lakay’s Geje Eustaquio and Kevin Belingon.
Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao has been training his wards for the past few months amid the coronavirus pandemic, hyping them up recently with more cardio routines in the track oval at Baguio Athletic Bowl and the Benguet Sports Complex.
ONE Championship, meanwhile, will be returning to its home base Singapore this Friday with ONE: Reign of Dynasties, since the country implemented COVID-19 related measures early this year.
